I am grateful to Allah for bringing me to Daral Ulum Montreal. I started my hifz journey on my own but there was no structure nor a dedicated teacher to whom I could recite. Being a full-time worker, Daral Ulum has allowed me to memorize Quran at a faster pace with a dedicated teacher as well as a fixed schedule and structure. My tajweed was not great but alhamdulillah, the teachers at Daral Ulum Montreal helped me fix my tajweed as well. I am looking forward to the day I graduated as a huffaz from Daral Ulum Montreal. I would recommend this program to anyone who is serious about pursuing the hifz journey regardless of their schedule. There is always time for hifz 😊

For the past few years, I had a yearning to pursue the knowledge of deen. Unfortunately, Montreal did not have an institution that focused entirely on teaching; that is until 2021. Alhamdulilah, I became a student of the sacred knowledge upon the establishment of DAR UL ULUM Montreal. Similar to the history of most great Madrassahs of our age, the Dar ul Ulum had a humble beginning of two dedicated teachers and about thirty students, offering full time, part-time and preparatory classes of the Alim program. The teachers have a good grasp of the subject matter. I am grateful to them for their kindness and understanding in accommodating a professional like myself who is already committed to a full time work schedule. It is based on this experience that I would encourage anyone seeking an authentic learning environment to enroll at the Dar ul Ulum.

Looking back at these two years, it’s amazing to see the progress made. I started my journey through Dar Al Ulum’s Alim program with the Arabic language and Fiqh. Not only has my understanding of Arabic improved drastically, I also notice an increase in my quality of worship. One of my main concerns was if I would be able to manage the program while finishing up my university studies. And the answer was YES. Alhumdullilah, the program is structured in such a way that it perfectly caters towards students and working professionals. In fact, I’m currently working full time now and managing the Alim program at the same time. On top of that, the bond that is formed between classmates and teachers is like none other. I thank Allah (SWT) for giving me the opportunity to enrol in such a program.

I had been looking for a formal program to study the Arabic language and the various Islamic Sciences for quite some time before before I found Dār Al-‘Ulūm Montréal (DAUM) by the grace and favor of ALLAH. DAUM offers both full-time and part-time programs. The latter is very convenient for me as it allows me to study the deen without compromising on the family and professional sides of my life, alhamduLILLAH. All instructors are from Montréal and all received formal Islamic training at recognized institutions. This gives us the benefit of receiving quality education with people who are also well accustomed to our everyday challenges. Many online institutes offer similar curricula, but beyond the academics, the suhbah (companionship and guidance) we receive at DAUM is what really makes the institute remarkable. At the verge of completing my first year of studies at DAUM, I am very satisfied with the knowledge I am acquiring and the life-long bonds I am building with instructors and classmates.

I always wanted to join a structured curriculum. I followed separate courses here and there, but it was never a full-on step by step program. It was during my summer break of my secular degree that a brother invited me to check this course. I was doubtful about my ability to combine my secular studies and my islamic studies. I was like, let me get out of my comfort zone and try. It happens that it was the best decision of my life till now. It’s not easy, but I’ve only seen great benefits out of it, in my religion, my family, my social skills, my bachelor, my whole life. I never thought I could perform in both a secular bachelor and a demanding 12 hrs per week commitment in an Islamic program. It happens that when you believe, Allah opens the doors and gives you way more than you expected. Alhamdulillah !

Alhamdulillah, deciding to study at Dar-ul-Ulūm Montreal has, without a doubt, been the best decision of my life. The amount of knowledge that I gained has not only allowed me to learn the intricacies and depth of the Islamic sciences and Arabic language, but it has also allowed me to increase my good actions beyond what I thought I was able to accomplish. By the grace of Allah SWT, I was able to build very strong relationships with all of the students at the institute. This immense gift has ensured me with reliable brothers that are always there when I need them. The teachers, on top of being extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and motivating, always make time for the students for whatever issues they might have, both inside and outside of class. I am eternally grate to Allah SWT for having blessed me with such an amazing environment with teachers and students that truly are reminiscent of the pious predecessors.
