Hifdh Program

It is our aim for students of the Hifz program to complete the memorization of the Qur’an under the guidance of qualified and experienced teachers. We seek to not only correct and perfect the recitation of the Qu’ran, but also develop in each student a strong Muslim identity that will allow our students to navigate the challenging world

Our Hifdh program is offered Full Time (Details Below) and Part Time

Part Time Hours: Monday to Thursday 6pm to 8:30pm.

Homeschool Support Program
Contrary to other provinces, in Québec, parents cannot withdraw their children from the education system entirely. Hence, parents must educate their children at home to enroll them in Full time hifz. At Dar Al Ulum, we provide assistance to homeschoolers so that they can succeed both in their hifz and in their academic studies.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Program

What is the main focus of your institute?

Our primary mission is the memorization of the Qur'an. We create an environment specifically designed for students who wish to undertake this journey, with intensive memorization beginning from Grade 5 onwards, where students spend 4 hours daily on memorization. For younger students, we implement a gradual integration starting from Kindergarten, beginning with 1.5 hours per day.

Who designed and oversees the program curriculum?

The program curriculum has been designed by Mufti Mirza-Zain Baig, a certified teacher. He, along with another certified teacher, oversees the program to ensure consistent improvement and quality.

What are your program hours?

Hifdh Concentration with Homeschool support (Grade 3 and up): 8am to 4pm
Islamic Studies Program with Homeschool support (Kindergarten to Grade 2): 9am to 4pm

Note: Cycle 2 students have the option of choosing between the full-time hifdh or the Islamic studies program.

Do you have minimum memorization requirements?

We don't have specific minimum memorization requirements. However, students must be able to participate in classes and complete assigned work.

What makes an ideal candidate for your program?

We look for students who:
- Are willing and able to sit for the allotted Hifz class hours
- Have a genuine desire to participate in the program
- Can follow and abide by the rules
- Can work independently without requiring one-on-one support
- Are autonomous or capable of developing autonomy
Additionally, we require parents who are willing to cooperate and work with our staff to achieve success. It's important to note that while you may be interested in the program, your child's willingness is crucial for their success and overall experience.

Educational Structure

What type of educational institution are you? Are you a school?

We are a not-for-profit religious organization and learning centre that offers a homeschool support program. We are not a traditional school or an Islamic school. We offer a structured program with specific objectives, supporting parents who remain the primary educators of their children.

What is your role in my child's education?

We do not assume the primary role in your child's education. You are the primary educator. We are assisting you in your child's learning and in navigating the process required. For all purposes, we are not an official school.
In the learning project that you submit to the government, you will list our centre as a centre that is involved in the learning of your child. The ministry may ask to communicate with us.
This means that while we provide structured support and assistance, all official documentation and primary communication with educational authorities remains your responsibility as the parent. Our role is to complement and support your efforts in providing your child's education.

What is the daily schedule like regarding breaks and physical activity?

Students are given standard breaks throughout the day. We have several hours per week dedicated to physical activity. Starting from 2025, we will be implementing a gym and an outdoor play area within our facilities that will be utilized for all our students.
